I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Sacramento in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. I spent the next year gaining experience with a mental health agency aiding clients in their home and community while working on my next degree. In 2014 I completed my Master’s degree at the University of Nevada, Reno and became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
My early clinical years were working mostly with children and the adults that impacted their lives. In 2015 my husband and I started our own practice which grew over the next eight years to include two locations. This growth afforded me the opportunity to engage in a new role of supervisor to other therapists while continuing to hone my own craft.
Since licensure, I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support the treatment of trauma in clients. I have seen first hand the positive impact it can have for those who experience symptoms of big trauma, a lifetime of small traumas, fears, phobias, the list goes on. Adding to my EMDR education, I have taken specific courses in providing EMDR through telehealth and EMDR for first responders.
I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health, a topic near and dear to my heart. The struggles that individuals and families face during pregnancy, postpartum, and loss of any kind are unique and underrepresented. I am passionate about supporting this life phase and helping others know that they do not have to suffer through it.
My approach is warm, friendly, and client centered. I integrate multiple modalities and techniques, creating a unique experience based on each client’s need. I am a good fit for you if you are looking for a connective relationship while focusing on your therapeutic goals.
